You pass the Gikondo exit when you drive from town out toward Sonatubes and Kicukiro. Though more of a residential area, this is also where you’ll find the dance club Passadena, and the Gikondo Industrial Park where a lot of fairs and expos are held. I also went to a rave party in some run-down factory here once, and I’m pretty sure that was fun.
Gikondo’s pretty close to town, and it’s easy to get motos and buses since it’s so close to the main road. But there’s not too much else here. If you get a house far enough up on the hill, though, you’ll have good views over to the Kimihurura hill and if you don’t mind doing without luxuries like hot water, you’ll be able to find some very cheap accommodation in this area.

I’d say the upside to Gikondo is the never ending jogging trials up this spiral twirling hill, otherwise it is not a booming scene if you don’t consider EWSA’s headquarters electrifying.
